World Language Tools
A wiki for teachers of World Languages interested in Web tools
“The illiterate of the 21st century will not be
those who cannot read or write,
but those who cannot learn, unlearn and relearn.”
- Alvin Toffler
What do Web 2.0 and constructivism have in common?
Piaget posited that educating someone required making them creators and innovators. Web 2.0 tools allow users to do just that. There are infinite opportunities for users to construct their own knowledge and for a learner's knowledge to evolve as a result of the community that serves as her audience, potentially a worldwide audience. Web 2.0 technology allows not only for the flexibility but the opportunity to observe its users evolving in their knowledge and beliefs as they become connected to and questioned by their diverse audience.
Links on this website represent just a small portion of the useful tools the web has to offer. It is a place to start.
